Last year, I accepted an invitation from Betty Kosel, ESL Consultant at the Vancouver School Board, to give the keynote address for the ESL teacher’s section on their Teacher’s Professional Development Day. The planning was done in October of 2007 and the talk was in February 2008. You can see us, Betty and I, in the photograph at the right, enjoying a “dim sum” lunch at Kirin Restaurant while discussing details of the presentation.

People talk about wealth management, weight management, anger management…what is learning management?

Management implies the use of effective strategies to achieve a goal. Learning management is a total package: we help children learn to succeed in school, doing whatever it takes. We help clear the obstacles found specifically in that child-learner’s life so that he/she can maximize on their potentials.

Finding a good general contractor is analogous to finding the right learning specialist to deal with our children’s learning problems. It is a jungle out there! The experience of interviewing contractors to work on my office has been interesting, to say the least. I was really relieved to come across the competent folks at Custom Craft Construction—they take care of things for me and I don’t have to call every 5 minutes to nag at them. I have to pay a bit more for their quality service, but it is worth it (more…)
